Soccer AM end of season knees up

Prior to my 2 shoe launches this week I went out with the guys from Soccer AM for quite a few end of season drinks.

Rio Ferdinand x Nike Sportswear Air Force 1 “RF1″

Rio Ferdinand joins an elite group of innovators, privileged to re-work this icon of Nike Sportswear. And he’s done it his own way. The ‘RF1’ focuses on a clean white-on-white concept, with a mixture of smooth, patent and ‘alligator’ embossed premium leathers for an understated yet luxurious aesthetic. They’re capped off with superfine gold stitching, a gold medial swoosh and variants of his ‘five’ insignia on the heels.

There are just fewer than 100 pairs of this incredibly limited shoe being released in the UK, the launch took place at Nike’s 1948 space in Shoreditch on Saturday 30th May at midday. After a Q&A session with 1Xtra's Vis we all popped over to Shoreditch House for some much deserved refreshment.

Two shoe launches in 2 days. Imelda Marcos eat your heart out.

Kickers and Lego tie Up Kids' Footwear

Kickers and Lego have joined forces for a children's range that will hit U.K. retail in October 2009. The launch took place on Friday at Legoland in Windsor. The Gadget Show's Gail Porter was there with daughter Honey to check out the new kicks.

The collection, unisex but aimed primarily at boys ages 4 to 10, features the Kickers Kick Hi boot with Lego detailing, including brick configurations on velcro straps and eyelets, use of the Lego brick print on two of the styles and bright bold colors associated with the brand. Lego bricks and characters can also be attached onto the shoes, which I think is a stroke of genius until you lose your bricks on the street.

The footwear also features the Kickers red and green tabs on the sides of the shoes as well as the fleurette, reincarnated in rubber for this collaboration. The range will retail between £50 and £55, some of you might say that's a bit pricey, but I say in these economically challenging times we could all do with a bit of colour to cheer us up.

UEFA Champions League Final

Oh well, Manchester United were beat by Barcelona 2-0 in Rome.

The Premier League Champions failed to retain their UEFA Champions League crown as Barcelona claimed Europe's top club prize with a 2-0 win in Rome's Stadio Olimpico.

United started the final brightly but were stunned on 10 minutes when Samuel Eto'o skipped into the box and poked the ball past Edwin van der Sar.

After that United never got going.

In the words of Sir Alex Ferguson "the best team won".

And so ends another Champions League season.

Adidas Jeans

I'm after a pair of red/blue Adidas Jeans. I had a couple of pairs when I was in school many many years ago & have been hunting them down ever since.

When they were released in 1979 the red/blue was the initial colourway, then later designs were brought out such as this fine True Red/Black/Sunlight colourway in November 2004. This re-model has all of the great original features plus some of the refined changes they made back in 1982 like the profile outsole and modifyed upper.

Anyone know where I can get an original 1979 red/blue pair please let me know.

Flight of the Navigator

For all of those who are old enought o remember the 1986 Disney sci-fi movie Flight of the Navigator will be pleased to know it's being remade.

The original movie told the story of a 12-year-old boy who is abducted by an alien spacecraft in 1978 and reappears eight years later, still the same age and with no memory of what happened. NASA scientists discover a connection between the boy and a downed spacecraft and try to exploit the boy, who ultimately escapes with the ship and attempts to reunite with his family.

Cautiously looking forward to it.

South Beach

My holiday confirmation has finally come through so I can finally start planning my summer holiday.

Off to the Ritz Carlton South Beach for 2 weeks.

My stay at the Ritz Carlton last Summer was undoubtedly one of the most luxurious holidays i've ever had the pleasure of having. Second only to my trip to Ian Fleming's Goldeneye. The service I received to second to none.

I urge you all to forget the credit crunch & give it a try. I there every year from now on.

Have you seen the video for the new TX watch? It's a James Bond film in the making except that it's all CGI.

The watches are great also. Of course I have one.

Precision engineering, the movement is the inevitable result of freethinking and individualism. The timepiece is driven by a sophisticated six hand movement which is run by four motors, each operating independently of each other. The traditional time-telling hands are powered by a unidirectional motor. Bidirectional motors propel the linear hand located at nine o'clock, which indicates the minute of the chronograph function, and a retrograde hand at four o'clock tracks the hours of the chronograph.
